Why convert HEIC to JPG?

HEIC is the default photo format on iPhones and iPads since iOS 11. While HEIC offers excellent compression, it is not supported on Windows, most Android devices, many web platforms, or older macOS versions. JPG is the most universally compatible image format — supported by every device, browser, and application.

Converting HEIC to JPG makes your iPhone photos instantly shareable via email, social media, and messaging apps without compatibility issues. JPG uses lossy compression, so files will be slightly larger than HEIC but compatible everywhere.

At quality 85–90, JPG produces results that are visually indistinguishable from the original HEIC photo. For lossless conversion, consider PNG instead. For the smallest web-optimized files, convert to WebP or AVIF.

All processing happens locally in your browser — nothing is sent to any server. No registration, no limits, no watermarks.

How to convert HEIC to JPG

  1. Upload your HEIC file

Drag and drop your HEIC image onto the converter area or click to browse your device. You can add multiple files at once for batch conversion.
  2. Set the quality

The Set JPG quality slider takes values from 60 to 95 percent, default 85. A lower value gives a lighter file, a higher one keeps more detail. Then click Convert.
  3. Download JPG

The Download button next to a file saves it on its own, and Download all packs all finished files into one ZIP archive. With a single finished file no archive is made, the file downloads directly.

When should you convert HEIC to JPG?

  1. Website optimization

HEIC photos from iPhone cannot be opened on Windows, most Android devices, or displayed in web browsers. Converting to JPG ensures universal compatibility with all browsers, CMS platforms, and content management systems.
  2. Email and sharing

JPG is the safest format for email attachments — supported by every email client including Gmail, Outlook, and Apple Mail. Converting HEIC to JPG ensures your iPhone photos can be viewed by any recipient on any device.
  3. E-commerce and marketplaces

Product photos shot on iPhone in HEIC format need conversion for marketplace listings. JPG offers the optimal balance of quality and file size for Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Shopify, and other e-commerce platforms.
  4. Documents and archival

Insert iPhone photos into Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and PDF reports by converting HEIC to JPG. JPG is supported by every office application and produces compact files ideal for digital documents.

What makes this HEIC to JPG converter different?

  1. Complete privacy

Your HEIC files are processed entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to any server – your images stay on your device at all times.
  2. Many files at once

Add any number of HEIC files, each up to 100 MB. The converter processes them one by one and shows the status of each.
  3. Quality slider

The Set JPG quality slider from 60 to 95 percent, default 85. Next to every file you see the size before and after conversion, and under the list the total for the whole queue.
  4. Download in one archive

The Download all button packs all finished files into one ZIP archive, so you do not have to approve a dozen downloads one after another.

Quality settings – what to choose when converting HEIC to JPG?

The quality slider lets you set a value from 60% to 95%. Higher values mean better image quality but larger file sizes.

  • 85% (recommended) – the best balance for iPhone photos. The visual difference compared to the original HEIC is virtually imperceptible.
  • 90–95% – for professional photography or printing where maximum detail is essential.
  • 60–75% – for email attachments and social media where file size matters more than fine detail.

HEIC already uses lossy compression (HEVC), so converting to JPG is a lossy-to-lossy conversion. Keep the original HEIC files as backups in case you need to re-convert later.

How much does a file weigh after converting HEIC to JPG?

Three 1440 × 960 pixel photos from the HEIF test set published by Nokia went through the converter at the default settings, that is at 85 percent quality: an autumn forest by the water, a city street at night and a crowd on a sunlit street. Sizes are given exactly as the tool counts them: kilobytes and megabytes of 1024.
FileDimensions in pixelsHEICJPGChange
Autumn forest by the water1440 × 960286.7 KB481.3 KB68 percent larger
City street at night1440 × 96040.4 KB144.9 KB3.6 times larger
Crowd on a street1440 × 960127.3 KB294.2 KB2.3 times larger
Our own measurement from 6 September 2026 in a Chromium-based browser. Photos from the HEIF set are already heavily compressed, so JPG at 85 percent comes out heavier than the original; move the slider down to 70 or 75 percent and the size gets close to the HEIC file.

Frequently asked questions about HEIC to JPG conversion

Is converting HEIC to JPG free?

Yes, this HEIC to JPG converter is completely free with no limits. You can convert as many files as you need without registration or watermarks.

Does the converter upload my files to a server?

No. All processing happens locally in your browser using JavaScript and Canvas API. Your files never leave your device, ensuring complete privacy and security.

Will I lose quality when converting HEIC to JPG?

Yes, JPG from this converter is saved lossy, at the quality set by the Set JPG quality slider (default 85 percent). At that value the difference is invisible on screen, while at 60 percent fine detail starts to blur. The encoder has no lossless mode.

Can I convert multiple HEIC files at once?

Yes, the converter supports batch conversion. You can add multiple HEIC files and convert them all to JPG simultaneously. Use the batch download option to save all converted files at once.

Why can't I open HEIC files on my Windows PC?

HEIC is Apple's proprietary image format used by iPhones and iPads. Windows doesn't natively support HEIC without additional codecs. Converting HEIC to JPG solves this compatibility issue, allowing you to view and share your photos on any device.

What is the maximum file size?

Each file may be up to 100 MB; a larger one stops on the list with a message that it is too large. The number of files in the queue is not limited, and large images take longer because the browser decodes them fully into memory.

Does the converter work on mobile devices?

Yes, the converter works on any device with a modern web browser, including smartphones and tablets. The interface adapts to your screen size for a comfortable experience on any device.

How do I download all files at once?

The Download all button packs the finished files into one ZIP archive named heic-jpg.zip. With a single finished file no archive is made and the file downloads directly.
