Why convert HEIC to PDF?

HEIC is the default photo format on iPhones and iPads since iOS 11. However, HEIC files cannot be opened directly on Windows, most Android devices, or many web platforms. Converting HEIC to PDF creates a universally readable document that can be viewed on any device and easily shared via email.

Converting multiple HEIC photos into a single multi-page PDF is ideal for creating photo albums, insurance documentation, real estate listings, and medical records from iPhone photos. PDF preserves image quality and can be printed at full resolution.

This converter processes files locally in your browser — nothing is sent to any server. No registration, no limits, no watermarks.

How to convert HEIC to PDF

  1. Upload your HEIC file

Drag and drop your HEIC file onto the converter or click to browse.
  2. Choose the layout and quality

With Combine all images into one PDF document checked you get one document in which every image takes its own A4 page in list order; the Move up and Move down buttons change that order. The Photo quality in the PDF slider, 60 to 95 percent, default 92, sets the weight of the photos. Then click Convert.
  3. Download the PDF

With Combine all images into one PDF document checked, the Download PDF button saves one document. Unchecked, every image gets its own PDF file and Download all packs them into one ZIP archive.

What makes this converter different?

  1. Complete privacy

Your files are processed entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
  2. Many files at once

Add any number of HEIC files, each up to 100 MB. The converter processes them one by one and shows the status of each.
  3. One document or separate files

The Combine all images into one PDF document option assembles all images into one PDF with a separate page for each; the Move up and Move down buttons set the page order. Unchecked, every image gets its own file.
  4. Download in one archive

The Download all button packs all finished files into one ZIP archive, so you do not have to approve a dozen downloads one after another.

The quality slider when converting HEIC to PDF

The Photo quality in the PDF slider takes values from 60 to 95 percent and sits at 92 by default. The image enters the document as a JPEG of that quality, so the PDF weight moves with the slider: the 286.7 KB test photo in HEIC gave a document of 633.4 KB at 92 percent.

  • 92 percent (default): print and archive without visible artefacts.
  • 80 to 85 percent: a document for email, several times lighter at the same sharpness on screen.
  • 60 to 70 percent: previews and working versions where only the weight matters.

The slider does not change the image dimensions: an A4 page always gets the full image fitted with a 20-point margin.

Tips for converting HEIC to PDF

A few tips to help you avoid common issues during conversion:

  1. Very large files

Converting images above 4000×4000 pixels may be slower and strain the browser. If processing many large files, consider splitting them into batches of 10–20.
  2. Document weight

A PDF weighs roughly as much as the JPEG inside: at 92 percent the 286.7 KB test photo gave 633.4 KB. When the document has to go through email, lower the Photo quality in the PDF slider to 80 percent.
  3. Transparency

The converter places the image on a white page, so transparent areas of the HEIC file come out white in the PDF. If the background has to stay transparent, keep the file as PNG or WebP.
  4. Keep the originals

The document stores photos as JPEG, so you cannot get the original pixels back out of the PDF. Keep a copy of the HEIC files if the photos are still needed for editing or larger prints.

How much does a file weigh after converting HEIC to PDF?

Three 1440 × 960 pixel photos from the HEIF test set published by Nokia went through the converter at the default settings, that is at 92 percent quality: an autumn forest by the water, a city street at night and a crowd on a sunlit street. Sizes are given exactly as the tool counts them: kilobytes and megabytes of 1024.
FileDimensions in pixelsHEICPDFChange

Our own measurement from 6 September 2026 in a Chromium-based browser. The document carries a JPEG at 92 percent quality plus a few hundred bytes of page structure, so it weighs almost the same as the photo in JPG. With the Combine all images into one PDF document option checked, all images went onto separate pages of one document weighing 1.19 MB.

How image conversion impacts page speed and SEO

HEIC to PDF conversion creates document files. When sharing PDFs containing photos, file size matters — large PDFs slow down downloads and may exceed email attachment limits (typically 10–25 MB).

The converter optimizes the PDF output to balance quality and file size. A typical 12 MP iPhone photo produces a PDF page of about 1–2 MB, meaning a 10-photo PDF will be approximately 15–20 MB.

For smaller PDFs, consider reducing quality settings. For web sharing, you may want to convert HEIC to JPG or WebP instead and display images directly on a web page.

Does the converter upload my files?

No. All processing happens locally in your browser. Your files never leave your device.

Can I convert multiple files at once?

Yes. The option Combine all images into one PDF document is ticked by default: every image goes onto its own A4 page of one document, in list order, and the Move up and Move down buttons change that order. Untick it and each image gets its own PDF, which Download all packs into one ZIP archive. Each file may weigh up to 100 MB.

Yes, the converter works on any device with a modern web browser, including smartphones and tablets.

Is converting HEIC to PDF safe for my files?
